World War Two » Journey Across The Pacific Front
At the end of the second world war, an unknown soldier dropped off a roll of film at a camera store in Coeur D'Alene, Idaho to be developed, and never returned to pick up the photos. When the store, operated by Bob and Millie Wilhenson, closed its doors in the late 1970's, prints from this roll of film were discovered at the back of a drawer.
Recently, a relative of the shop owners has decided that the photos should be shown to the world, and that is when War Photos was contacted. We are proud to present these beautiful, never before seen photos to you, as part of our galleries.
The following photos are all from the pacific theatre. Some of them are of Iwo Jima and others are of Bougainville Island. Other locations are unknown. The origination of the photos are mysterious, and it is unknown if all of the photos are even from the same roll of film, or the same photographer. Some will notice the famous photo "Raising the Flag on Iwo Jima". It is unknown if this photo is from the same roll of film as the others.
